The Project
It’s important to hit the ground running when working in a start up. There’s no time to sit around wating to be told what to do, it’s all about self-organising and self-managing. Storyful contracted me to work in-house to re-design the “pro” area of the site.
The main focus of the site is to feed news companies a constantly updating news stream using sources from social media that is searchable, filterable and sortable. Storyful’s mission is to “sort the news from the noise”. The site discovers, verifies and delivers relevant user generated content found on the web.
Result
A news company looking for video footage to fill a segment detailing a major event unfolding in a foreign country can now browse user generated content in one location. They can use the site to search for any videos or twitter lists that have been uploaded and checked by Storyful curators. Content owners can be contacted the footage can be used as part of the segment later that evening.
The app is built with a mix of fluid and responsive layouts to allow it to be used on any device from an iPhone to a multi-monitor workstation. The muted interface allows content to be the focus of attention, with powerful searching and filtering at the user’s disposal. Storyful’s mission is to “sort the news from the noise”.
