The Project
Pocket Wines gives wine lovers an expert guide in the various styles and varieties of wines from around the world. Users can browse and search both styles and varieties of wines and grapes. There's even a handy guide to pairing wine with foods.
It's number 1 wine app on iTunes in the US thanks to some excellent content that focuses on sharing expert knowledge with all types of wine buffs.
Result
The change to a more content focused iOS 7 was one of the main reasons for the update. Minimal use of colour and styling was used to allow the content to be the real star. The iPad app was given a complete overhaul to take advantage of the bigger screen size. Both apps used the same navigation structure to give one unified UX. The app was featured by Apple and received over 60,000 downloads in one week.
